Be sure and check out our new rates for the 2010 season. We have sharpened our pencil, so to speak, to continue offering a First Class hunt at reasonable prices. If you have an interest in a hunt, please contact us and get those deposits in! We do not hold any dates without a $1,000 deposit for each hunter. The Management Buck, Trophy Buck, and the Super Buck all are decreased in price. The Cull Buck hunt has increased to $2000. For those of you that have already sent your deposits in on the Cull Hunt, your price is still $1800. Deadline on the $1800 hunt’s deposits will be Feb. 1, 2010. If you are after that, the price is $2,000.

Thanks, Dustin

The East Fork Family was deeply saddened by the news of our most influential and fun-loving hunter’s death on Dec. 23rd. Jerry was a great man who always had a good additude and was always cracking a joke. He always had a sarcastic tone that worked well with our family to say the least. His influence on our ranch will always be felt as he attributed to at least 17 hunters coming to our ranch over the last 3 years, many of whom are annual guests and the list is growing. I met Jerry at the Dallas Safari Club and we hit it off right away. I guided him and heard nothing but complaints about how I was an inept guide and didn’t take him to the best spots- all in good fun, he was just messing with me! I grew to be friends with Jerry and am greatly saddened to have lost that friend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jerry’s wife and family. You will be missed.

This hunt is for the late season this year. A cull buck is a buck that needs to be taken out of the herd due to age and size. These bucks can be up to 139″ but will typically be in the 110-130″ range. When these bucks step out on a cull hunt, there is not a debate on shooting.
The hunter in a culling situation is there to help the ranch manage the herd while getting a lot of shooting in. All meals and lodging are provided for this two day, three night package that is fully guided.

Well, as many of you may know, EFR has had elk and buffalo hunts in the past with a great deal of trouble. This year we decided to do a couple and look at these beautiful animals that we were able to harvest. Dr. Z was back again for his third trip this year and accompanying him was his good friend Richard Miller. Richard had hunted with us in the past and again this year for the Free Range hunt in November. What a bunch of work to get these big boys into the cooler! Both elk bulls have not been scored, but should be in the 390″ range and the buff was a bruiser, somewhere around 1600-1700 pounds. A long day of work, but well worth the effort. Look for the full story in our upcoming Newsletter.

The second week at the East Fork Ranch proved to be a succesful one. Eight hunters from Houston, Texas scored on big bucks and memorable hunts that will last a lifetime. You never know what each day in the woods will bring, from monster bucks to unbelievable circumstances which always make the times at EFR fun and exciting. This week brought an end to the year long reign of one of EFR’s finest hunters, David Hendricks. His modest and humble attitude of killing the biggest buck in ‘08 was put to an end by Fred Morgan’s 229″ monster that he took on this hunt. David still came in second on this week with a buck that scored an impressive 219″. Both deer were unbelievable and we appreciate the fact that we were able to see these boys out in the field while with a hunter. David is protesting the award for Fred saying that the buck had a “death wish and committed suicide”. Nonetheless, David will have to try next year for the King of the Ranch award.
